Founded in 2016 by Arshiya Bose, a Cambridge-trained human geographer who researched biodiversity-friendly coffee certification, Black Baza Coffee works directly with smallholder farmers across India, including Soliga indigenous growers in the BR Hills, paying above-market rates for shade-grown, chemical-free coffee. The Bangalore-based roaster won the Specialty Coffee Association's 2025 Sustainability Award.
