Kopi Toko Djawa occupies the former Toko Buku Djawa, a Bandung bookstore dating to 1955 that closed in 2015 after 60 years importing books. Owner Alvin Januardi converted the Jalan Braga building into a coffee shop in December 2017, and it has since grown to eight outlets across Bandung and Jakarta.
