Papua New Guinea – Sigri Estate Rare Single Typica Variety For years, Papua New Guinea has been labeled as mere “blender coffee” within the American specialty coffee scene. This stems from various challenges within the supply chain at the origin, a limited number of quality-focused producers, and notably, the lack of exposure to exceptional PNG coffees for many roasters. This situation has created a cycle where the limited supply of high-quality PNG coffee leads to a lack of demand, consequently diminishing interest among producers to enhance the quality of their offerings. However, all Papua New Guinean coffees we offer originate from two direct source partner estates: Sigri Estate and Bunum Wo Estate, through our partner Benchmark. Benchmark diligently collaborates with local partners to ensure the highest quality coffee production. Furthermore, they undertake various social projects within the community, such as constructing schools and implementing clean water sources. Their commendable efforts not only enrich the community but also yield outstanding coffee from an exceptionally unique origin.
