Emirati Coffee Co was founded in 2017 by Mohamed Ali Al Madfai and two high-school friends, after Al Madfai encountered specialty coffee on a farm visit in Bali, Indonesia. The company's branding references Al Madfai's grandfather, who traded coffee by ship across the Arabian Gulf in the late 1930s, and it operates as an e-commerce and omni-channel business rather than through physical cafes.
