Summer Espresso comes from the Riakiberu washing station in lush Muranga, Kenya. An area known for its ideal growing conditions with mineral-rich, volcanic soil. Around 1,390 small-scale farmers deliver their ripe coffee berries to the Riakiberu washing station. The farmers mainly grow the varieties SL28, ruiru 11 and batian, and each farmer has an average of around 200 coffee trees. Riakiberu places great emphasis on sustainability, including through the use of soak pits for water purification and recycling, as well as training farmers in good agricultural practices, with the aim of increasing production, quality and long-term value creation for the local community.
