Taf Coffee grew out of a family business importing and roasting traditional Greek coffee in the 1990s; in 2006 founder Yiannis Taloumis, an MBA holder and Licensed Q Grader, shifted the company entirely toward specialty coffee, and Taf's Athens coffee shop opened in 2009 as one of the city's pioneering specialty cafes.
