Tasting Notes: Brown Sugar, Dried Apricot, Orange, Black Tea Region: Antigua Farm: Finca Pulcal Altitude: 1600-2000 masl Varietals: San Francisco Process: Washed Delicate sweetness, soft citrus, and a refined tea-like finish define this Guatemalan coffee from the historic Antigua region. Grown at Finca Pulcal on Hacienda Carmona, this coffee benefits from the area's rich volcanic soils, high elevation, and unique microclimate that have helped establish Antigua as one of Guatemala's most celebrated coffee-growing regions. We are proud to have sourced this coffee through our friends at Common Goal Coffee, continuing a relationship with the Zelaya family that has brought exceptional Guatemalan coffees to our customers for many years. This lot also features the San Francisco coffee varietal, a relatively uncommon selection originating in El Salvador. Believed to be derived from Bourbon and Pacas, San Francisco is valued for its quality in the cup and its adaptability in the field. While little has been published about its history, the varietal has recently been introduced at Finca Pulcal as part of Hacienda Carmona's ongoing replanting efforts alongside varieties such as Java and Villa Sarchi.
