COLOMBIA - RODRIGO OYUELA | filter
16.5 EUR
Vibrant, articulate, and impeccably clean. Expect a cup that opens with bright red fruit tones of grenadine syrup and candied red currant, anchored by a delicate, tea-like structure and finishing with the comforting sweetness of apple crumble and caramelized sugar. ORIGIN: Colombia PRODUCER: Rodrigo Oyuela REGION: Chapparal, Tolima GROWING ALTITUDE: 1800 m VARIETAL: Pink Bourbon PROCESS: washed ROAST PROFILE: Light (filter roast) Rodrigo Oyuela is recognised for his leadership, strong agronomic skills in achieving high coffee yields, and for involving his family in the business. He has long been regarded as a great leader in the Cañón de las Hermosas area, where he previously managed a purchase point and a small wet mill for another association. His farm covers 33.5 hectares, with 8 hectares planted with coffee, mainly Pink Bourbon, Castillo, and Colombia varieties. In total, he has 38,000 trees. "It is a family tradition—he has been in coffee since he was a child. As he grew up, he managed to buy a few coffee farms, but sold most of them due to low yields, which he attributed to soil issues and climate conditions. Eventually, he purchased Villamaria, his current farm. The previous owner allowed him to pay gradually by selling his coffee, since he did not have the full amount of money at the time. From then on, his growing skills improved, driven by the need to pay off the debt. That is also why he explored exotic varieties. In this case, the Pink Bourbon seeds he planted came from Acevedo, Huila."
