Horiguchi Coffee was founded in May 1990 by Toshihide Horiguchi as one of the early specialty coffee roasters in Japan. The company began visiting origin countries in 2000, started identifying partner growers in 2002, and in 2004 formed an alliance of independent micro-roasters that has since grown to roughly 120 members; it now operates as a green coffee distributor, wholesale and retail roaster, and cafe operator.
