We’re kicking off Mexico and Central America season with something new - a new Mexican (not New Mexican) coffee from the Cifuentes family in Chiapas! Rosalba Cifuentes grew up producing coffee in the Bella Vista area of Chiapas, Mexico, and has established herself as a leader in the area’s coffee community. Several years ago she founded Mayan Harvest, a social enterprise focused on helping smallholder farmers in the area improve practices and access better markets. Rosalba and her extended family also farm coffee themselves, and Huck is excited to roast this gem of a washed coffee from the collective family. Rosalba, Eugenio, Froilan, Otoniel and Omar each own separate plots in Bella Vista, farming and processing separately, but pooling the coffee after it has dried. We’re excited for Mexican and Central American coffee season, and the Cifuentes’ coffee hits with both approachability and fruity nuance.
