ELECTRIFY YOUR PALATE WITH THIS BURUNDI SELECTION FROM LONG MILES COFFEE PROJECT Gitwe represents the work of 2,000 farmers who produce coffee next to the Heza Washing Station in the Kayanza Province of Northern Burundi. Once coffee is harvested, cherry is delivered to the washing station where it is floated to remove defects, sorted by color, and pulped in a McKinnon pulper that also sorts by density. While intercropping aids in biodiversity in addition to diversifying agriculture in an attempt to avoid mono-cropping, climate change continues to bring flooding year after year, deepening the challenges faced by the community and washing station. What we have come to love about Burundi lots is their intense sweetness, delicate floridity, and jammy body.
