Hacienda Potosí is the first of four farms operated by the highly regarded Café Granja La Esperanza. Potosí was established in 1945 by Blanca Ligia Correa and Juan Antonio Herrera, with two of their fourteen children becoming the central figures to transform the business into a leader in the specialty coffee world. Sweet Valley is a blend of three varities from Hacienda Potosí – Castillo, Caturra, and Colombia. Once picked, ripe coffee cherries are floated to isolate the densest and most flavourful fruits, followed by Brix readings to get a gauge of the sweetness levels in the cherries before a 72 hour open-air fermentation begins. This process slowly coaxes out the fruit’s deepest aromatic layers, and sets the stage for a coffee that’s bursting with character. The coffee is mechanically dried in silos at a consistent 38ºC for 8-12 days until a balanced moisture is reached, and then they are held in controlled storage at 18-19ºC for ideal vibrancy preservation until ready for transportation. Café Granja La Esperanza has achieved global recognition from competitions like the World Barista Championships for their coffee, and and more than fifty international awards. In 2021, they pioneered the first private coffee auction in Colombia, and set a record price of $2,194 per kilogram for one of their coffees at auction in 2025.
