Karindundo is located in the Mount Kenya Lowland Region, 1 km from Karatina Town in Nyeri District, Kenya. There are a total of 513 active members (349 men, 164 women) contributing to the annual production, each with an average of 300 trees and 0.5 acres. Farmers grow macadamia nuts, bananas, corn and beans near the cafe. After harvesting the ripe cherries, the farmers deliver them to Karindundo, where they go through a traditional washing process. The coffee is pulped, fermented overnight, washed and then placed on raised beds where it dries to a stable level. Karindundu helps support farmers by advising on the use of agricultural manure, pruning and fertilizer application.
