Beza – Specialty Coffee from Yirgacheffe, Ethiopia Beza is a bold and aromatic specialty coffee, sourced directly from the legendary coffee region of Yirgacheffe in southern Ethiopia. Sustainably produced and roasted in Denmark, Beza showcases everything we value: quality, fairness, and transparency. We work through direct trade partnerships with smallholder farmers, ensuring fair prices and long-term impact. Every cup of Beza supports the people and communities who grow this incredible coffee. This is a naturally processed coffee, meaning it is sun-dried with the fruit still on the bean. This traditional method brings out a rich, fruity profile and boosts aroma intensity. In Beza, you’ll taste bold notes of dried berries, hints of citrus, and warm spice. It is full-bodied, complex, and has a smooth, lasting finish. The sweetness is deep and intense, balanced by bright acidity and a rich mouthfeel. Beza is one of the most aromatic coffees in our range. From the moment you open the bag, you’ll notice a vibrant berry aroma with layers of spice. These scents reflect the unique soil, climate, and processing of Yirgacheffe. The altitude and terroir create ideal conditions for growing distinctive, high-quality coffee. The beans are hand-picked, naturally dried on raised beds, and carefully monitored throughout the process. Yirgacheffe is one of Ethiopia’s most famous coffee regions. Located in the country’s southern highlands, it is known for its lush landscape, rich biodiversity, and ancient coffee-growing traditions. Altitudes range from 1,800 to 2,200 meters above sea level. These high elevations help develop the coffee’s complex flavor by slowing down cherry ripening. Cooler air, steady rainfall, and fertile volcanic soil all play a role in creating truly exceptional beans. Beza is made from heirloom Arabica varieties that are indigenous to Ethiopia. These wild-growing strains have evolved naturally over centuries and are cultivated using low-impact, sustainable methods. Farmers in Yirgacheffe rely on local knowledge and generations of experience to care for their coffee trees. Their work is done mostly by hand—harvesting, sorting, and drying—all to ensure the best quality. The naturally processed method used for Beza adds to its bold and complex profile. After harvesting, the coffee cherries are dried under the sun on raised beds. This takes several days and requires careful turning and monitoring. The process allows the fruit’s sugars to soak into the beans, enhancing the sweetness and aroma. Once fully dried, the beans are hulled, graded, and selected for export. We roast Beza in small batches at our roastery in Copenhagen. Each roast is tailored to preserve the coffee’s natural character and to bring out its vibrant qualities. We use a medium roast level to keep the balance between brightness and body. The result is a coffee that’s intense and expressive, but also smooth and refined. Every sip tells a story of origin, craftsmanship, and passion. Beza is suitable for a range of brew methods. It makes a strong and rich espresso, but also works beautifully in pour-over and filter brewing. The full body and berry flavors hold up well in any style, offering flexibility and depth. Whether you prefer a morning cup or an afternoon treat, Beza delivers a bold and rewarding experience.
