Burundi Rugembe Hill Burundi Rugembe Hill Filter Roast I don’t know about you, but no coffee range is complete without a vibrant African. The balance of sugars and clean citrus trump others. I am unsure how long we will be able to keep washed Burundi Rugembe Hill in the roastery, as we have other coffees lining up. Whilst it’s here, let’s enjoy this fantastic vibrant filter. For the record, the (external and internal bean) colours suggest this could be a One Roast. I am getting so much pleasure out of this as a filter at the moment, the jury is out on the espresso side of things. Top Trumps Coffee Washing Station (CWS): Rugembe Hilll, Lot 6 Country: Burundi Region: Bujumbura; Mutamba County Farm size: many small producers Altitude: 1700 Meters above sea level. Cup Potential: 🥣 |Aromatics: Bright and juicy⚡⚡| Body: Light to Medium| Acidity Lemon and green apple| On opening, this is fantastically refreshing. Golden syrup and lemon sweetness with a long finish. The cup progressively sweetens. The fruit becomes softer. On cooling the body builds. Amongst the citrus and sugars, there are some tart apple notes. This is one stunningly clean cup. Filter Recipe In filter, we are brewing this at 60-65g per litre. Unusually I have been enjoying this most, filtered. Farm Stuff Burundi Rugembe Hill comes via our friends at Omwani, who work in partnership with the Migoti coffee company. Buying direct from smallholder farmers in the mountainous villages overlooking Lake Tanganyika. This includes Rugembe Hill, Murambi, Masenga, and Migoti villages. Both parties have long-term goals in helping producers with future crops and infrastructure. This includes projects like hydroelectricity and the development of alternative cash crops, as opposed to the kind of project that builds roads for the purpose of extracting minerals. Let us know how you get on. @JGCinstagram
