Formula 6 Espresso Beans What is Formula 6 Espresso? If you like coffee with or without milk and something complex and a bit fruity, without being OTT, then you might just be in the right place. Firstly, Formula 6 is a blend of speciality coffee that allows us to buy a broad range of seasonal beans from all over the world. During the year, there are subtle changes in the blend’s flavour profile as the components change. Due to the fact that we keep the same percentages of the process types consistent and subtly tweak the roast to optimise its flavour potential. For many, Formula 6 is their go-to coffee. House Blends offer great value, too. There are never two years the same, but we can only plan for up to 6 months ahead, as we just don’t know what lies ahead. Look at the last few years! Coffee is still very much a seasonal affair, although there are some coffees that we try and keep for longer. What is in the blend right now? 40% Tanzania Ngila Estate Kent AB 40% Brazilian Vargem Grande Estate 10% Ethiopian Halo Beriti, Natural Formula 6 Espresso Beans change periodically. Fresh additions to the blend make it both a challenge and a delight ..with ridiculously good naturals (where we can) and top estate coffees too. Also, the calibre of coffee in Formula 6 seriously takes some beating. The sweet, clean acidity and the ripe, balanced fruit sugars work really well. Recipe Depending on the milk you use and your cup sizes, you may wish to ignore the following! This is my go-to recipe for Formula 6. Base Brew temp: 94C Dose: 16-18g Milk-based drinks: 16-18g coffee in 34-36g (ish) in about 24-28 seconds Espresso: 16-18g of coffee 40-50g espresso liquid 27-30 seconds When brewing this super-fresh, you might want to make the shots a little shorter in liquid volume.
