Valparaiso Pastel This coffee comes from plantations in the municipality of Valparaíso, located in the southwestern part of Antioquia—a region that ranks first in Colombia in terms of coffee cultivation area. Situated in the northwest of Colombia, Antioquia is where Colombians first began growing coffee, and in 1927, the National Federation of Coffee Growers of Colombia was established here. Most of the region is mountainous, spanning the central and western slopes of the Andes. Antioquia is known for its tropical climate and fertile volcanic soils, making it an ideal environment for coffee production. Coffee cultivation in this region is carried out by both small family-owned farms and large, well-equipped estates. The most popular coffee varieties grown here include Castillo, Colombia, Typica, and Caturra. Additionally, the region is known for producing mangoes, avocados, and corn.
