Barcelona came to specialty coffee later than most European capitals and made up for it with conviction. Nomad opened doors for a wave of roasters — SlowMov, Satan’s Coffee Corner, Three Marks — and the city now has one of the more interesting specialty scenes south of the Alps. The traditional Spanish café-con-leche is still everywhere, but alongside it, something new.
El Born, Gràcia, and the Raval are where most of the specialty action happens. Expect espresso to still carry real weight here, filter menus to be growing, and baristas to be genuinely excited when someone asks about origin — the curiosity is still novel enough to be contagious.
Go in spring. Sit outside. Order whatever they recommend.

Nomad opende deuren voor een golf branders — SlowMov, Satan’s Coffee Corner, Three Marks — en de stad heeft nu een van de interessantere specialty-scenes ten zuiden van de Alpen. De traditionele Spaanse café-con-leche is nog overal, maar daarnaast iets nieuws.
El Born, Gràcia en de Raval zijn waar het meeste van de specialty-actie plaatsvindt. Verwacht dat espresso hier nog echt gewicht heeft, dat filtermenu’s groeien, en dat barista’s oprecht enthousiast zijn als iemand naar herkomst vraagt — de nieuwsgierigheid is nog nieuw genoeg om aanstekelijk te zijn.

El Born, Gràcia und das Raval sind die Viertel, in denen das meiste der Specialty-Action passiert. Espresso hat hier nach wie vor echtes Gewicht, Filterkarten wachsen, und Baristas sind ehrlich begeistert, wenn jemand nach der Herkunft fragt — die Neugier ist noch neu genug, um ansteckend zu sein.
