A bright, juicy Kenyan with that classic East African snap — the kind that wakes you up without raising its voice. Bright is built around Lot 20's washed lot from Kericho, picked by the Metibellion smallholder co-op and processed at Sidney Kibet's own wet mill. The producer — Lot 20, Kericho Lot 20 is led by Sidney Kibet, who came to coffee from cider-making — and brought the experimental mindset with him. Founded in 2022, they work directly with smallholders across Kericho, Bomet and Nandi counties, run their own wet mill, dry mill, seedling nursery and a fermentation lab, and put real money back into the people growing the coffee — literacy training, access to banking, free seedlings for the next generation of farmers. The lot — Metibellion, washed SL28 and SL34, grown between 1,370 and 2,080m, processed as a fully washed. Cherries are picked ripe, depulped, fermented in tank, washed clean, then sun-dried on raised beds. It's the classic Kenyan playbook done properly — clean, transparent, and built to let the fruit do the talking. How to drink it • Filter / V60 — best showcase. Grapefruit and nectarine jump out, vanilla rounds it off. • Espresso — sharp and lively, more citrus rind than syrup. • With milk — softens the citrus, leans into the vanilla. A different drink, still good.
